Specsavers Yardley Sponsors Local Cricket Team

Specsavers has stepped in to support a local cricket club with a new kit for its members. The store has provided the kit for the Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club junior teams, as part of its aim to help boost the opportunities for children to learn, train and develop in the sport.

‘We were keen to help out with the club, encouraging more youngsters from the Yardley, Sheldon and Stechford areas to get into the sport’, comments Specsavers Yardley store director Dee Browning.  ‘It’s been great to watch their progress this season and to see the number of children who have been involved.’

Over the course of the season, more than 80 children enrolled across the club’s programmes from five through to 15-year-olds. This included a range of levels too – from grassroots through to County Premier League with admirable performances across the board.

‘We are very grateful to Specsavers Yardley for their continued support,’ adds junior section co-ordinator, Adrian Maguire. ‘As a club, our work in the local community is paramount – offering an all-inclusive opportunity for anyone who wants to be involved with the sport. We are the only cricket club in the area, and it is great to have this support from the local community.’
