The Swan has been awarded a merit at a national award for shopping centres. The Purple Apple Marketing Awards, organised by Revo, the membership organisation for the retail industry, recognise and award successful marketing in shopping centres around the UK.

The merit was awarded in recognition of the centre’s Rangoli Rocks event which took place at the centre in October 2019.  The event brought together the Yardley community to create a giant Rangoli artwork, representing two annual celebrations, Diwali and Halloween.

The event attracted thousands of people who either took part or visited it over the few days it was installed at the centre. The event saw great community engagement and also saw the centre receiving high levels of online engagement for a time-lapse film commissioned to document the artwork’s creation.
